This is a live recording by the co-led group of Randy Brecker and Eliane Elias. It is a remastered version of a soundboard recording that was originally broadcast on the radio. Since the low-end frequencies were initially quite weak—partly due to the absence of a dedicated bass player—I used equalization to bolster the sound. I also removed distracting hiss noise. Additionally, I edited out the grating whistling (or finger-whistling) sounds frequently picked up between tracks. Fundamentally, it is a high-quality soundboard recording, and the remastering ensures a listening experience that even casual listeners can enjoy with confidence. This co-led project suggests a shift in pace for the Brecker brothers; while they were an unstoppable force in the 70s—participating in countless live shows and recording sessions across various groups—the 80s seem to have allowed them a bit more freedom to pursue the music they truly loved.
